Hey everyone!

I'm in the process of developing a Spellcasting Roguelike game and I wanted to share what I've finished so far!

My goal was to create a fantasy adventure type game in the style of a roguelike. You start as a retired level 1 Wizard, and collect gear, spells, and other items as you progress through randomized maps, enemies, and bosses!

Quick concept prototype I created to get a feel for movement, some enemy and damage mechanics, room borders, and destructible bushes!

After this, I played around with more some more objects to fill the room:

I made a randomized map generator create a bunch of rooms with a bunch of different layouts based on the number of doors. Some room layouts and a sample of a fully filled map with the base rooms:

The rooms will have a few types: Puzzle/minigame rooms, miniboss rooms, boss rooms, enemy rooms, quest rooms, and merchant rooms!

A few samples of enemies created, the spider was already shown above, and we've got forest imps, territorial lunging owls, Venum Flychomps, and Dashin' Daisies!

The experience system is also shown above, and below, with another sample of a spell you might find on your adventures!

Every level will have it's own unique set of enemies, bosses, and minigame/puzzle mechanics. The forest level has "Stone Statue Puzzles". There will be a few of these and you'll only see 1-2 per run, so each time you get a chance to play through the forest, you should see something new! The image below also shows some updated spell UI and health/mana/xp/level bars and currency counts!

Little Wizard Dev Log - Stone Statue Puzzle Minigame. Quick small update: Every level will have it's own unique set of puzzles/minigames, the forest level will

And finally, the latest thing I worked on, was separating the player sprite out into individual components. I think a staple of roguelike games is how the powerups will change the appearance of your character. There are 5 gear slots planned, which you can swap out as you come across new gear to give your wizard a unique look with every playthrough!

Little Wizard Dev Log - Character and UI visuals!. Hey all! I've the last few days creating the gearing and character visual system! Throughout your runs, you'l

I hope to have a working test demo available as soon I finish up the forest level and finalize everything before moving onto the next "floor" with a whole new set of visuals, enemies, minigames/puzzles, and bosses!

I wanted to make this post to keep track of all the little updates I've been making, and I would love to hear your feedback!

Ah I'm seeing the spell one again now, sorry about that, I think something went wrong with my end where it was saying the sale ended, but I found the spell bundle :D

Hello there! Did your bundle sale end early? I swear it said there was almost a month left but it says it ended a few days ago :(
